Motivation

Hey everyone :)

Today I decided to share with you all what my ultimate motivation for losing weight is. Maybe it will help you get motivated and get moving :)

To explain my story, let's start when I was little. I wasn't always an overweight child. At one point I even weighed less than most of my friends.
I can't remember how old I was, but around a time when school had not yet started for me, I got sick. Not just sick, but very sick. I got juvenile idiopathic arthritis in my legs. To explain this disease to you all, it is a very painful thing. Your entire body gets stiffer for every day, you can't walk, your joints get swollen, you feel a lot of pain and you lose your appetite. I distinctly remember how I could barely eat anything. One of my clearest memories from when I was in the hospital was how I got my dinner. I would eat a tiny bite of chicken and a tiny bite of the bread and then I just couldn't eat anymore.
On top of all the mentioned problems that occur, you also get flu like symptoms. There is just a catch with this disease. Those symptoms don't go away. I had a deadly high fever for weeks on end and I am lucky to still be alive to this day to tell you about my story.
At one point the doctors highly considered force feeding me. Luckily that never happened.
I had this disease for about 4 months and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

After I got rid of it, I slowly started gaining weight. I got to a healthy weight again and from there it just took off until I was overweight. We're not talking 10 kgs when I was little. It was just enough extra weight to be noticed but it was nothing huge.
Then the bullying started. There was a boy and a girl in my class who bullied pretty much everyone, but since I reacted very strongly to whatever they said to me, I was an obvious target. I still remember some of the crap they let out about me. Bullying quickly became a part of my every day but since I had a group of friends who were very supportive, I didn't listen to them... or so I thought. There is just this amazing little thing about the brain. It stores memories you wish you could just forget. As a result of all this bullying, I lost a lot of my self-esteem and I had no confidence and I still don't. I started comfort eating, even though I can't really remember this very well.

When I had my confirmation (and now I realize how stupid that was since I don't believe in god) I of course needed to buy a beautiful white dress. I remember how I broke down crying because I couldn't fit into any of the clothes I wish I could.
In 2011 I lost my grandmother. Right at the same time I nearly lost one of my best friends as well. That made me comfort eat a lot more than anything had ever done in my life.

I have always struggled a lot with my weight. I've tried a huge variety of diets and lifestyle changes but nothing helped because I was never dedicated enough. And let's face it. An 11 year old needs a lot of motivation in order to lose weight.

But here I am today. 17 years old and I have changed my life around. I don't want that excess weight. I don't want to hide every summer because I'm too afriad to go outside in a bikini. I want to wear shorts. I want to wear those dresses that show off your figure. And you know what? I will get there. Maybe not before this summer vacation, but I will have reached my goal by next year. I won't take a no for an answer. I won't let myself die unhappy because I didn't take control of my life.
How your body looks; how much exercise you do; how your life is. All of that is up to you. You can't blame society for how you look. There are only excuses as to how you feel but YOU can change that.
That is what I have told myself. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. And that is why I have put up with this for too long. It's time to change how I have lived for 17 years and make my life different. I want to be happy and healthy and I will be!
So to sum up all of that. No matter your story and your history, and no matter what the reason as to why you're overweight; YOU are the only one standing in the way of getting to where you want.
I have never had a boyfriend. I have never even had that first kiss. I have been bullied and put down my entire life but I am done with that.
And that is what my motivation is.
Find what your motivation is. Write it down and keep it in the back of your head every day. That is what I do and that is what keeps me fighting for what I want.

I hope that helped inspire some of you :)

Wolfie <3

Healhy banana and oatmeal cookies

Hello my lovlies! <3

Today I made some healthy cookies since there's the Eurovision and the Preakness Stakes tonight! :D
So let's get on with the recipe, shall we? ;)

Ingredients:

  • 3 small ripe bananas (or 2 big ones)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 ½ table spoon acacie honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • A pinch of salt

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C.
  2. Mash the bananas. Add everything but the almonds and the raisins.
  3. After getting a dough like consitency, add in the almonds and raisins.
  4. Get out a few baking sheets. Create the cookies by using a tablespoon per cookie. Press them down with the back of a tablespoon. This will make them a bit more cookie like in the end result
  5. Cook the cookies for 35 minutes. During the time they're in the oven, turn them around so they bake evenly.
  6. Take them out and let them cool for half an hour.
  7. Enjoy!

Don't you just want to devour the entire plate?!
They were absolutely delicious and I will make them again for sure! You can always use dark chocolate instead of the raisins by the way ;)

So today I went for a run! Nearly 4 km in 30 minutes! Once I got home I drank half a liter of water because it was 24 degrees when I went running! Then I thought I'd do a few more exercises. That resulted in 50 squats and 50 crunches (sit-ups). My tummy hurts and I wobble when I walk, but that's just good :D

See you next time!
Love,
Wolfie

Healthy ice cream

Hello my lovelies <3

Healthy ice cream say whaaaaaaaaaaat? Yup you read correctly! There is such a thing as healthy ice cream. It was become my regular snack on hot days and my dessert on weekends! It’s super delicious and super easy to make; so easy that I laughed a bit when I saw the recipe. I have only found out how to make banana ice cream so far, but if I find out how to make other kinds, I will let you know of course! I’m going to try test some different things out the next few weeks so stay tuned ;)
So in this post I’ll be talking about healthy banana ice cream.

I don’t even need to make an ingredients list. If it’s a snack then use 1 banana. If it’s a dessert then 1-2 bananas per person.

What to do:
  1. Cut the banana(s) into chunks. No need to finely cut it; big chunks are perfectly fine.
  2. Put the chunks in a container and then put it in the freezer. Let them stay in there until they’re as frozen as ice cubes. I let mine stay in the freezer for at least 5 hours or overnight.
  3. Take the chunks out and put them in a blender. Simply blend them until it has got the ice cream texture. If it doesn’t blend very well add very little water. The more you add, the more runny it becomes and it gets a smoothie texture and not an ice cream texture like we want ;)
  4. Eat it! If it’s a snack you can eat it with other fruit of your choice and if it’s a dessert, I eat it with chopped up pieces of 70% or darker chocolate. It’s absolutely divine either way :)

This is what the result should look like (if you decide to add chocolate of course) ;)
Just look at this yumminess! And so easy!

This is the chocolate I use when topping my ice cream ;)
Super yummy!
This morning I went for a run and the idiot I am, I forgot my keys in the apartment so I locked myself out... Silly me. Anyways, I went for my run and I have improved SO much since I started! I ran nearly the entire 4 km and I only took 3 breaks; each being about 2-2½ minutes long. I'm really proud, especially considering I haven't gone running since the 6th of May because I've been sick.
After finally getting into my apartment after waiting for my mom to get home, I took a shower and then it was time for breakfast. Yesterday I made some pancakes (the ones I've already posted the recipe of; there's a link to them here). Mainly so I had some breakfast today. But I thought I'd top them off with something different than the usual boring toppings. So I thought to myself, why not top them with some of the ice cream? It's healthy after all ;)
And here is the result of that! I added water to the blender when blending the bananas and it turned into a very cold smoothie haha :P
But it was SO yummy!
The not to presentable food but what the heck? It was too good!

So that was it for this post but I'm hoping to write some more this week! :)
I have a busy weekend coming up. No school until Tuesday next week! So I have plenty of time for morning runs again! I'm going to a racing stable one of the next upcoming days in the morning which I'm super excited about. Lots of horseracing this week! ;)

See you all very soon!

Wolfie <3

Banana & Oat Pancakes

Hello my lovelies!

Since it's Mothers Day I decided to do a little something for my mom, and of course the rest of the family. I made some yummy breakfast! And best of all, it's a healthier choice! We were out of glutenfree oats, but they would be glutenfree if you were to make them with glutenfree oats (obviously).
I thought I'd share the recipe I found! It's super delicous and I added some pictures I took while cooking them up today ;)

So let's get started!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups rolled (or glutenfree) oats
  • 1 1/4 cups milk (I used hazelnut milk)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoons maple syrup (or agave nectar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
Here are the ingredients I used. I forgot to put the salt in the picture... of course! Typical me :P
Since I had just run out of vanilla extract, I used vanilla sugar. A good tip: use a vanilla bean instead ;)
They're really simple to make! Just add all ingredients, except the egg in a blender and let it blend until the mixture is lovely and smooth (meaning no banana chunks!).
A cheeky little picture of the ingredients in the blender. I thought it looked cool.... O:)
After the mixture has been blended to a completely smooth texture, add in the egg and blend, blend, blend!
Depending on how thick you want your pancake batter, blend for however long you want. If you want the classical thick American pancakes, blend it for about 3-5 minutes. You have to be able to pour the mixture, so if it's too thick just add some extra milk ;)
If you want the thinner pancakes (which I call Danish Pancakes) just add more milk so the mixture is runny and thin, but not so much that it splits of course.
I made mine more like the American pancakes. Let's face it; I'm a sucker for American yumminess ;)
Then it's time to cook these delicous pancakes! You can use either coconut oil or butter. I recommend using butter since it add this hint of nuttiness which is absolutely delicous! Coconut oil is very delicous to use as well so I recommend both! If you want to prevent your butter from burning (which results in burning your pancakes) add the butter and add a bit of coconut oil as well. This will give you the flavor from the butter and prevent it from burning :)
As you can see I used butter ;)

And the first pancake is on the pan! Fry my little baby, fry! :D
Let them cook on each side until they're lovely and have a golden finish ;)
It should be illegal showing you guys this godlike pancake...
The great thing about this batter is that, if it's made thick enough it doesn't break very easily.

And here is the finished stack! I ate one for tasting... I am sure you can make plenty more than I did from this recipe. I started out by making mine the size of a 1/3 cup but decided to make them 1/4 cups instead :)
That basically means I used a 1/3 and a 1/4 cup measurement to measure the amount of batter I used per pancake.
Here is the glorious stack!
I will recommend making a bowl of lovely fruits to go with your pancakes! I did so and it adds both beauty and nutrients to your lovely breakfast ;)
I used:
  • 2 apples
  • 2 bananas
  • 6 strawberries
You can add whatever your heart desires in a fruit salad! I highly recommend squeezing an orange or 2 over the fruit and let it sit overnight in the juice ;)

Just look at it! It speaks for itself :P

Toppings!
These are the toppings I recommend if you don't just want fruit on top. Maple syurp (use wisely! It contains a ton of sugar which kind of defeats the purpose), akacia honey (or agave nectar; the nectar tastes just like honey) or Sukrin. Sukrin is a natural alternative to sugar. It has 0 calories but tastes yummy! I strongly recommend this stuff since it's super great.

Just look at it...
And here is the finished result! I took a picture of my moms pancake since mine wasn't as presentable... hehe :P
It was SO yummy! You must go make them sometime soon or whenever you have time! It's seriously worth it!

A little update on me (if you're interested haha).
I have been sick for the past week meaning I haven't been able to go running or anything :(
So tonight I'm going to see if I feel well enough for a run. Otherwise I'll go tomorrow! It's important to listen to your body! :)
I will post a delicous dessert/snack recipe tomorrow! You're gonna go nuts for it I swear! :P

It was lovely writing another blog post, so until next time;
See you all laters!

A Lovely Weekend in May

Hello my lovelies! <3

In all honesty, I've missed writing blog posts! Just needed to think of the right thing to talk about :)
So I came to the conclusion that I would share my weekend experiences with you all!

Friday was a lovely day. School was from 8:10 am to 11:35 am. From there I could go home and enjoy my day. I went home and cooked up some clean lunch and I finished making a video for YouTube :)
A very healthy and good tip for the future me; NEVER make a huge portion of lunch. Even if you had a small breakfast... I have learned my lesson.
After rendering that, I had to go running. The weather was absolutely beautiful! I will go for runs at around 3 or 4 pm more often for sure!
This is a little cheeky picture I took while running! I absolutely love running down here. So beautiful :)
After getting back I thought it was apropriate to take a little shower because I really pushed myself when running. Then it was off to school again. I was there at about 5 pm or so. Now you might be wondering why I would go back to my school on a Friday evening. Well the deal at my school is, all the 1st years have to make some type of entertainment/restaurant for the 2nd and 3rd years before our annual Spring Prom. We have 2 proms a year at my school... because.... yeah well we're awesome :P
Oh and to those who don't know, I go to high school. It's pretty much just 3 years (usually from when you're 16-19 years old) and it can be compared to A-levels in England I guess.
So after stressing out to begin with, we started relaxing and once the customers were done eating, we could clean up and get ready to party. Sadly though I didn't join. The dress I waned to wear, didn't fit so I decided to join a friend of mine for a movie night. I am so thankful I did. We watched The Shawshank Redemption and that movie was AMAZING. Seriously go watch it! It will be worth every minute!
We finished watching movies at around midnight and then I headed home. Luckily we live about 400 m away from each other so it wasn't exactly a long travel home. After getting home I simply couldn't stay awake any longer and I went to bed.
Now I don't know if I'm the only person who does this. In the weekends, if I go to bed at midnight or around there, I sleep for like 12 hours. If I go to bed at 10 or 11 pm I only sleep around 8 hours... I know, I'm weird.
So I slept half my Saturday away. But that was alright because I barely had any plans. I cooked up some brunch for myself. This time I made sure to make a smaller portion. I basically spent the day pampering myself and relaxing and enjoying the day. Towards the evening, about an hour before dinner, I thought to myself "why not go for a run again?". So I did! 2 days in a row and I pushed myself so hard yesterday, I am still sore. But sore is good! If you feel nothing, it means you didn't push yourself hard enough and pushing yourself results in progress! Good little tip when working out ;)
So after getting back home, I washed up and ate some dinner. I then sat down with my parents and watched Dead Poets Society. I love that movie! Mainly because I see a rather cute and, in my opinion, also rather good looking Robert Sean Leonard! Yup! The guy from House M.D. :D
Love him!
After watching that movie, I put some snacks together and sat down with my computer.
Here's a little picture of my snack because... ya know.... people love food pictures! ;)
Just some grapes, 4 dates and 70%  Moser Roth chocolate!

For all the horse racing fans out there you will know what a HUGE day it was yesterday! That's right! Derby day :D
And I am still so greatful that a friend of mine would go through a ton of technical problems to help me watch it live!
To explain the situation, here we go. I was sitting in lil' ol' Denmark and here we can't watch the Derby live. Anywhere... So I spoke to a friend of mine about the Derby and after a little bit of figuring out a plan, she put her laptop in front of her tv and called me on skype. From there on I could watch the Derby live and talk with her a little bit as well which was super fun! I'll be joining her the same way for the Preakness and the Belmont if all goes well! :D
Anywho, I watched the Derby live (still can't believe it) and I congratulate Orb on his Derby win. He deserved to win even if I didn't vote for him. Revolutionary is gonna take him in the Preakness if they're both entered, just wait ;)
So after staying up until 2 am (!!!!) to watch the race, I headed to bed. I don't think I really thought that through very well. My little brother had a friend staying over. Little brother + friend = morning loudness!
I barely slept until 9 am with those 2 monsters in the next room...
And before finishing off this post, I want to quickly explain my Sunday. I went to a birthday party and it was so fun and relaxing!
Here's a picture of one of the cutest cats I have ever met. Findus and she's so cuddely! :D
Just look at her whiskers -cries from cuteness-
Did eat a little bit of the unhealthy stuff though. I'm going running tomorrow to make up for that. I would have gone running for a third day in a row but I was too sore.
So after spending my day there from 1 pm to 5 pm, I headed home. On the way my family and I quickly stopped by at a friends house to see her new apartment. Let's just say, I know where I can afford to move to when I want to get out of the house of the family!
I decided to add a picture of my dinner. Whole grain food is ok to eat when eating clean ;)
So this was my dinner (plus 6 cherry tomatoes) and I didn't need more than that.
It looks like it's way too little but if you think so, just eat more veggies. I personally didn't need more than that.
And now I am sitting here on my way to bed. I know this might not have interested very many of you, but the fact that you took a look and maybe even read the entire thing means a lot to me.
So thanks for joining me on a lovely Sunday evening and I hope you enjoyed reading that! :)

See you all next time,
Love, Wolfie <3
